Members of Stacy Philpott’s research group (The ANTS lab) at UC Santa Cruz aim to learn about the ecology, conservation, and sustainability of agroecosystems and surrounding landscapes. We conduct research in tropical and temperate systems, and much of our work focuses on understanding local and landscape drivers of insect and bird biodiversity, ecosystem services such as pest control, pollination, and water conservation, and associated changes in trophic interactions and ecological networks in agricultural landscapes. We also strive to understand how products and services from agroecosystems may promote human well-being.
